Sophie’s Dice v1.5

I have a new dice version, and though I’ve previously talked about it as “1.43” I’ve decided it deserves a bigger number than that!

Main features this time are:

  • LOADS of new dice shapes, LOADS of them!
  • Environment lighting options!
  • More versatile Roll Expressions!
  • New glitter shader means prettier dice!
  • Ambient Occlusion/Motion Blur (not on android rn, sorry)
  • New example dice and included images!
  • SO MANY FIXES! (Like wow this thing is way more solid and nice!)
  • There’s also new QoL options like being able to right-align the results or have the dice bag path displayed

As ever, you’re getting this before I have finished updating the documentation/changelog, but if you need any pointers I am always on discord/twitter <3

Also I know some of you have changed your patreon names since you first started supporting me, I’ve tried to keep the credits correctly updated but I’m pretty sure there may be some duplicates or times when I’m crediting only your previous name. If you want me to update how you are credited then let me know, I’ll be happy to correct it 🙂

Finally, thanks so much for your support as I work on this. I am trying to balance my work on this with other games-based work (like my safecracking sim or the marble game) but my capabilities in balancing stuff are still… well they are pretty rubbish. I really appreciate your help in letting me work on all kinds of things and I want you to know that. You’re awesome <3

WritingFantasy 1.1.0 and Gordian Book

This update is kind of a big one, kind of the biggest yet! To explain it, here’s a story!

Yesterday I made a minor WritingFantasy update and posted about it. This had me bump in to the creator of Gordian Book, and we found out we’d been working on really similar things.

Both Gordian Book and WritingFantasy take Twine format stories and make gamebooks from them. With a little work we’ve been able to add a decent amount of compatibility between the two, and in the process uncover bugs and improve things.

tl;dr: WritingFantasy now has support for a bunch of Gordian Book features/tags, and the reverse is true too, so if you have written a story for WritingFantasy, you can probably use Gordian Book to get a better print or pdf version of it.

WritingFantasy guide and format links are here, as ever.

and if you’re curious about the changes, I have a changelog now!

Extra Stuff Video Update – August 21

Video above, GDD pdf download below!

I’m sorry that this is so late, also that I say “like” about 99999 times in the video.

But all the same, I really appreciate your support and hope you find something interesting here. If anyone is interested in my VR/Light Gun calibration process then let me know, I can post about it in more detail!

Marble Train – Week 2

I spent another week working on this, and I have a lot to show for it! I go into detail in the video but the tl;dw tho is:

  • Multiple levels
  • New mechanics
  • Polish

I am aiming to complete and release this project in stores, but I’ll probably have to take a break from it since I have other projects to update (some of which is time-sensitive, I have a dice update I want released before this-year’s tabletop fest begins).

Anyway, downloads are below!

I’ve still not included the controls so I’ll put them here:

  • Steer: A/D – Left/Right – Left Stick
  • Speed Up: W – Up – Right Trigger
  • Zoom: -/+ – Right Stick
  • Jump: Space – South Gamepad Button
  • Pause: Escape – Start
  • Toggle Full-screen: Enter

Marble Train – Week 1

So last weekend I took part in the “Stop Waiting for Godot” jam to learn how to do 3D stuff in Godot, and I did! and I made a game!

Over the week I’ve been improving it, and you can have that improved version, downloads below!

I don’t have much to say that I don’t say in the video, but there is this: It’s nice to work on a “gamey” kind of game again, it has been a while and it feels refreshing! (But also it feels really tiring because I have not been pacing myself well!)

Anyway, I’ve not included the controls in the game so you can see them here:

  • Steer: A/D – Left/Right – Left Stick
  • Speed Up: W – Up – Right Trigger
  • Zoom: -/+ – Right Stick
  • Jump: Space – South Gamepad Button
  • Pause: Escape – Start
