Sophie’s Dice 1.3 Release

It’s out! I’ll spare the detailed info on what’s new as I’ve posted about it plenty but if you want a fancy update, check the announcement on steam or itch, and if you want the *full* changelog that is here.

As always, patrons can get the PC/Android version at this link right here.

A few of you have already given me some feedback, I haven’t been able to respond to all of it yet but I am noting everything! There will be a patch in a week or so to fix some bugs I’ve missed (and any you find in the meantime – just let me know!)

As a note on news, I’m planning to put together a talk/Q&A stream as part of Steam’s Digital Tabletop Fest (of which Sophie’s Dice will be taking part), I’ll add another post later in the month about that if/when I figure it out.

Thank you so much for the support, without you I wouldn’t have been able to make this silly dice thing what it is <3

Dice v1.3 Release Candidate

So, I think it’s done! Assuming nothing is wrong with them, these builds are the ones that will get uploaded to store pages! To that end, if you could give them a try and let me know they work, I’d appreciate it!

In the mean-time, I’ll be working on updating store assets, making new screenshots, a new trailer, all that annoying stuff. But at least the end is in sight!

Update: These downloads should now be for the second Release Candidate 🙂

September Update (Dice + Candy Night)

Sorry for being silent here all month, I have been busy but somehow it’s extra work to post here rather than just dropping screenshots and updates in the discord*, as though I need to be more formal or something.

Anyway I don’t want to be formal so hey there fart-faces! ;P <3

Today I have been working on my dice, I am verrrrrrrrry close to getting the update together – I’ve even put a freeze on adding things to my to-do list. I should have a release candidate ready any day now!

Big dice things since the last update are:

  • There are now over 300 dice! Each one has sharp-edged and round edged models too, so there’s like 600+ dice models
  • There’s an option for the app to speak the results (so much audio recording! Orz)
  • Lots of little things like rotating dice to read, saving which dice bag is open, or camera improvements, physics improvements etc. the changelog for this update is the longest by FAR

As well as dice, I got an idea for this year’s halloween game and I started work on that, unsurprisingly for me this year – its a tabletop RPG. In it you’ll play as kids going trick-or-treating who will at some point in the night encounter something evil!

I got pretty far on the first pass before getting back to polishing my dice update, so you can grab a pdf which is almost playable tbh – you’ll definitely get a good idea of the game from it (download is attached to this post below)

*Speaking of the Discord, I added patreon integration so if you want access to my private patron channel make sure you link your discord account 🙂

Anyway that’s my September, I hope things are going alright with you!

April Update

First up: I’ve sent out steam/itch keys for the cubes app to everyone in private messages, if you didn’t get yours, or your keys don’t work – let me know and I’ll fix it for you 🙂

OK so the actual update: April has been tough.

You might have noticed a lack of screenshot updates and the reason for that is I have very little visual to share. Unless you’d like a screenshot of a twine graph? OK you can have that:

It might not seem like much but making even this much progress on a project was like pulling teeth. The world is just so absurd and hard to comprehend right now, combined with one of my regular downer periods it’s meant my productivity outside of my own head has been… less than stellar.

But hey I’m starting to feel better, and find new ways of coping, so I’ll talk about what I did do this month:

  • I’ve gotten some of the way to adding tutorials to my cube app, so you can use it to learn how to solve cubes!
  • I’ve planned out a huge amount of a vampire gamebook thing which will consist of a bunch of one-page-dungeons (I guess that is bascally a book of dungeons?). That’s what I’m blocking out in twine.
  • I continue to make progress on the lore and characters of my RPG. I know I’ve said it before, but it’s really benefitting from having time for the ideas to come together.
  • I finished playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It’s fucking wonderful and I super recommend it. I have no idea how I’d have coped this month without it tbh.

Anyway, I’m still finding my energy so I’m going to have to call it here for now, but hey if you want something, here’s a letter from a young vampire to their maker.

I hope you’re doing alright with everything that’s been going on. I love you!

Spooktober 2nd – Enid is in unity!

Woo, I have a version of Enid running around in unity! This isn’t going to be her final look though, but it is enough for me to animate with and tomorrow I can start on testing that all my old adventure systems still work, and start adding new stuff that I need to them too.

Here’s some skeleton animation in blender for you too 😀

If you’re wondering why skeletons have a “breathing” idle animation the reason is… I have no idea lol 😛 maybe it’s just a tough habit to break?
