Writing Fantasy 1.0.7

So this month I’ve been (foolishly) working on a gamebook for both the Gamebook Jam and NaNoWriMo, and noticed that my gamebook system for twine needed a little attention, so I’ve updated it!

You can now mark a passage as the ending, and it will be the last numbered passage (a fighting fantasy feature I missed. oops!)

Also you can mark passages as front/back matter so you can add introductions, rules, credits etc without having to make them be numbered passages or screwing around with exported html

Anyway, the guide is here (and has been updated), and has the link you need to throw into twine.

Update: I needed new features so 1.0.8 can now:

  • Have links which are just a passage number, with no “Turn to XYZ”
  • Have passages with fixed (not-shuffled) numbers, so you can have a puzzle where the passage number is the solution
  • Use emoji, because I finally specified UTF-8 in the html

Monthly Build 2019/08 – New dice stuff!

Sorry for the radio silence most of this month, I’ve been kind-of consumed by dice thoughts and dice work and dice play and diiiiiice omfg so much dice stuff.

So much so that I noticed we were coming up to the end of the month and I was like “Oh shit, I have no work-in-progress build for August” but then I remembered I totally have this project lol, I’d gotten so used to sharing every build AND WIP game builds every month that I’d forgotten now it’s released, it’s kind-of a different thing? kind-of?

OK so look I know it’s not a game, and I really want to get back to working on actual game stuff but like I say, I have been consumed by this stuff. I’m getting the new version ready and also making sure it can go out on iOS too and hopefully then I will be done with it. I talk more abouit this stuff in the video above (warning, 40 minute long video!) but the tldw is “Posessed by dice demon, must dice until there are no more dice to dice, then can make game”

Anyway you can get the win/mac/linux versions here: (I haven’t made an android version right now, but if you really want this version on android let me know 🙂 )

Thanks so much for your support despite my patreon kind-of becoming a dice patreon? Anyway I should have new posts up sometime soon too (I mean, they will be about dice tho) so look out for those 🙂

bye for now, hope you’re well!

Ghost Dice

This game is for several players, requires three dice, and a recklessness to disturb spirits which have been severed of their mortality.

For various reasons, I can’t release any of the more substantial games I’ve been working on for Halloween, but tonight I came up with this… or was I merely a conduit for the cursed system of morbid divination? I know not.

Monthly Build 2019/07 – Pico-8 RPG Again!

Oh what I’ve hypothetically made all of the core RPG systems and the game is playable through the first part of the intro? That is amazing. I must be really good at hypothetically making games!

(Thanks for your support, download is below. Just like last time win/mac/linux/raspi builds are all in one zip)

Dream Fishing

So lately I’ve been thinking about making a Dream Fishing 2 and what that could be, and in the process of looking for the original (a ludum dare game from… 2013, wow) I found that it’s one of my games that is just not available anymore.

It’s really annoying because this was one of my favourite jam games but because tech is constantly abandoned (hey, remember the unity web player? when was the last time you even played a game in your browser?) stuff gets left behind and forgotten. Updating stuff is largely unfeasable too – getting the old Dream Fishing source working again and adding back the stuff unity no longer supports (resolution and control settings) took longer than it did to make the game in the first place.

Anyway for the time being, this game is playable again, for however long it lasts. You all get this version ahead of everyone else, next month I’ll put this up on itch.

As ever thanks for the support, I’d not be able to work on this again if it wasn’t for you <3
