Vampire Queen of Evenmere – week 3
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »OK so first up: This week I’ve had a HUGE writer’s block. I only managed a few hundred words for quite a few days.
But thanks to a bunch of energy at the start, and a little I seem to be regaining now – I still have ~something~ to show for it. For one, there is a reading/playthrough I streamed as an attempt to break my block (VOD above). I play up to entering the castle before needing to stop. And I’m back to writing now so that’s as far as I play for now 🙂
Anyway, stats: we’re at 260+ passages, the so as you can tell we’re WAY down from writing ~100 per week. Also I’ve only just hit a wordcount of 25k – a week late.
The plus side is I have a much better idea of where I’m going with everything, and the stuff in the castle has been getting filled in nicely – there’s ghosts, lore, puzzles, ability challenges, and of course monsters (which I still haven’t made yet. Wow I should have worked on them whilst I had writer’s block huh? fuck, next time!)
Anyway if you want to play this version: this is the link!
Dealings in Dungeons – Complete!
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »So this one took a while longer than I planned, but it is probably one of my better games!
I will be looking into getting sets of cards properly printed, but for the time-being it should work fine as a print-and-play game, as well as in a web browser >> over here <<.
If you’re in the extra-stuff tier, you can grab HD versions of ALL of the card illustrations in this post.
Update: I added a zip containing the web version, so you can play it offline, and also have a bunch of smaller jpgs of all the cards if that is something you want 🙂
Palutte
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »Hey minor update because I just did a new thing! Yesterday someone asked me to make a system to render dithered images with a specific colour palette and I honestly didn’t know if I could! But I kind of had an idea how I’d do it and I couldn’t get it out of my head once I started thinking about it.
Long story short, I figured it out! And I learned a bunch about unity image effects, shaders, colour spaces, and colour maths in the process 😀
You can see a video explanation here, or grab the unity package here alongside a bunch of my other unity systems.
Or you can just look at these test images I made showing Sarah’s Run with different colour palettes:
also here is what Sarah’s Run would look like on Pico-8
OK that’s it for today, hope you’re well because I love you <3 o/
Monthly Video – May 2020 (+latest Dreamsent PDF)
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »I know I didn’t upload a video last month, I’m sorry about that and as soon as I find a way to make it up to you I will, in the mean time here’s a video of me talking about some stuff I’ve been doing, and also a 50 page PDF of what I have for that TTRPG I’ve been working on 🙂
I love you all, I hope you’re well! <3
Checking in, Dreamsent update
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »It’s been a while since I checked in with you all so first up; Hey! I’m still working on stuff! Thanks for the support even with the radio silence, you’re all stars! <3
Second up; I am still working on my pre-rendered RPG project (I even started outlining the story!) but if I’m honest, I haven’t found the “OK THIS IS IT LET’S GOOOOOO” write-till-it’s-done aspect of that yet. So I’ve been poking at other things to keep myself occupied.
One of those things was a project I started last year called Dreamsent. It was intended as a TTRPG that you could play around a table or on your computer (you make a character sheet etc and your PC plays the role of GM). A fun challenge because a lot of TTRPG rules/mechanics don’t easily translate well to videogames without some fundamental changes.
Anyway, I’m picking it up again, but focusing on the tabletop aspect of it. Which is to say, I’m writing a manuscript containing everything a group of players would need to know to play. A task I *wildly* underestimated, but I’m actually enjoying it.
The manuscript is a looooooong way from done, but today I was playing around with it in Pages so I could practice layout stuff, and I figured I’d share what I have for now 🙂
If I can get it to a point where I’m ready to test, I’d love to try running some one-shots on the weekends with some of you. If you’d be interested then let me know 🙂
Anyway that’s all for now, I hope you’re all doing alright <3
(Update: I changed a bunch of paragraph alignment because it was bugging me!)
