The Chamber (One Page RPG)
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »So last night around midnight I threw together this thing, and spent the morning fixing it up for you <3
It’s a very loosely defined concept and setting allowing every player to GM a world where other player characters can enter. I also trimmed down the dice system I made for DreamSent and put that in there, but tbh you could use any ruleset you please – if you want to transport a bunch of DnD characters to the chamber then go for it.
It is as-yet untested, and will probably remain so because honestly I don’t have the time and part of the nature of the game means it will require a fair amount of preperation for every player. I’m busy making an RPG that is more than one page and it’s tiiiiiiiiime consuuuuuuumiiiiiiing.
Anyway I love you, bye for now <3
Vampire Queen of Evenmere – Week 4
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »So it’s the end of the WriMo, aaaaaand, the gamebook is not finished. This isn’t much of a surprise to be honest, but it’s not a dissapointment either, I’m really psyched by how much I did manage to write, and I’m excited to finish the book.
Though I will be taking a little break from it being my main focus as I plan to work on some small updates to my cubes and my dice this month, as well as plan where I’m going with this gamebook a bit better.
Thanks for your support allowing me to do something like this, it has meant a lot and I really appreciate it <3
Anyway if you want to play the gamebook as it is now, > here is the link <
Sophie’s Safecracking Simulator
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »So for the past tenish days I’ve been working on this thing for the jamulator game jam.
You can see my progress in the twitter thread here if you want, I also chatted about it a fair bit in my discord server so you can see some more WIP stuff there if you’re interested.
Anyway about the thing itself:
- It has fully simulated group 2(ish) mechanical safe locks!
- Real-life safecracking techniques will work on the sim
- There are a bunch of tools (Spectrogram, gyroscope, zoom camera, x-ray) you can use to help you crack the combination – but if you know what you’re doing you won’t need ANY of them!
I’m going to be honest with you: I went WAY deeper into this than I ever had to, and I think it is way cooler for it. Normally I think I’d fail at the attempt but this week I had the perfect amount of energy and focus and here it is! I’m really happy with it, especially for a jam game!
Downloads are below 🙂
Oh and if you don’t know how to crack a safe, this video playlist is one I found very helpful!
Sales tax on patreon heads-up
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »Patreon is recommending that I do the work of softening you up to this and suggests I post something like the sample passage linked here.
But I’m not a patreon employee so I figure I have no obligation to do their PR for them. I only care about you guys so here’s the relevant stuff I can figure out:
- Patreon will start charging new sales taxes from on July 1st
- The changes effects only some US patrons (sales taxes are already applied elsewhere)
- Pledges to me will be effected by sales tax to some degree if you’re in a location where the sales taxes apply, because I offer stuff that is taxable
- I have tried to mark the kind of content I offer so that your pledge isn’t taxed unneccesarily (i.e. your whole pledge won’t get taxed for a fractional benefit you receive that is taxable).
- If it works anything like my experience of VAT on patreon, then the tax will be added on top of the amount you pledge. Meaning that you will be paying more.
Patreon will apparently be sending details with relevant info on June 1st to patrons who will be effected, so look out for that I guess?
Being able to mark what kind of content I offer for the purposes of sales tax seems like a new feature, so maybe it will reduce taxes on pledges that were already being taxed? I have no idea though.
As always, if this (or anything else) leads to you lowering or removing your pledge, please know I completely understand and am grateful for any level of support that you have given until now <3
Vampire Queen of Evenmere – week 3
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »OK so first up: This week I’ve had a HUGE writer’s block. I only managed a few hundred words for quite a few days.
But thanks to a bunch of energy at the start, and a little I seem to be regaining now – I still have ~something~ to show for it. For one, there is a reading/playthrough I streamed as an attempt to break my block (VOD above). I play up to entering the castle before needing to stop. And I’m back to writing now so that’s as far as I play for now 🙂
Anyway, stats: we’re at 260+ passages, the so as you can tell we’re WAY down from writing ~100 per week. Also I’ve only just hit a wordcount of 25k – a week late.
The plus side is I have a much better idea of where I’m going with everything, and the stuff in the castle has been getting filled in nicely – there’s ghosts, lore, puzzles, ability challenges, and of course monsters (which I still haven’t made yet. Wow I should have worked on them whilst I had writer’s block huh? fuck, next time!)
Anyway if you want to play this version: this is the link!
