I also made a neat little app a while back I havent mentioned here yet, SpiroDraw is like spirograph, but with extra awesome ^_^, check out the awesome stuff thats been made with it.
Anyhoo, I’m getting back to work on Edward now 🙂
So was linked to the RPGDX LoFi competition. I’ve rubbed off as an flash game development promoter and so since you’re a girl who does flash I figure I’d come up with a set of pick up lines. I took the liberty of sifting out the “bad” ones:
– “want to be embedded?”
– “hey it’s getting late, maybe we should spend the night at my Adobe”
– “I’m action script 3 and you’re action script 2, we can be compatible” (even though that’s not true…)
– “hey girl, care for some action… script?”
– “flash me, please”
While some may call these lines lame, I feel like they deserve a second look. Upon giving it them a second look, you will realize that they are indeed lame.
lookatmyname » LMAO, they are indeed very lame =p
Wow, you’re so creative. I loved the background (literally) story of the lofi RPG. I’m really jealous. And lookatmyname, don’t call someone actionscript 2. That’s just insulting.
Really enjoying linear RPG. Tying grinding time into reading time: brilliant.
Fantastic deconstruction of the so-called “Japanese” RPG — very smart; very amusing.
Wow! Linear RPG was AWESOME.
I mean, seriously. It was definitely significantly better than the “brilliant” works known as Final Fantasy 7 or Persona 3. And the fact that you came up with all of this criticism entirely on your own — I mean, have any of you ever heard people say these things about JRPGS before? — is just A-S-T-O-N-I-S-H-I-N-G.
Seriously, your type of style and creativity is exactly what the game industry needs. We need someone who knows how to throw together a game in a couple of days and act like she’s better than everyone else… I mean, with those abilities, you could match EA in its level of quantity-to-quality.
Keep reaching for that dream, Sophie! I’m totally rooting for you!
P.S.
I hope you are able to, at least in a small way, accept and understand the point I’m trying to make here. One thing that you might keep in mind for the future: All entertainment industries have proven time and again that the same action/drama plots can be recycled almost infinitely and still manage to bring pleasure to a large audience. Satire, however, is used up like a paper towel after its first wipe. Such incredible irony that you drag out one of the moldiest, most dried up satires in the video game industry as a method of tearing into a repetitive genre.
P.P.S
Even bigger lulz if somehow you thought you were the first person to make this point about RPGs. Stay classy.
TheVoiceofReason » lol, a fun comment to read but I think you have got the wrong end of the stick, I genuinely just made the game for fun, not as some kind of criticism and I really enjoy most grind-fest RPGs that I’ve been accused of ridiculing.
My bad then 🙂 Amazing work lol.
