Checking in, Dreamsent update

It’s been a while since I checked in with you all so first up; Hey! I’m still working on stuff! Thanks for the support even with the radio silence, you’re all stars! <3

Second up; I am still working on my pre-rendered RPG project (I even started outlining the story!) but if I’m honest, I haven’t found the “OK THIS IS IT LET’S GOOOOOO” write-till-it’s-done aspect of that yet. So I’ve been poking at other things to keep myself occupied.

One of those things was a project I started last year called Dreamsent. It was intended as a TTRPG that you could play around a table or on your computer (you make a character sheet etc and your PC plays the role of GM). A fun challenge because a lot of TTRPG rules/mechanics don’t easily translate well to videogames without some fundamental changes.

Anyway, I’m picking it up again, but focusing on the tabletop aspect of it. Which is to say, I’m writing a manuscript containing everything a group of players would need to know to play. A task I *wildly* underestimated, but I’m actually enjoying it.

The manuscript is a looooooong way from done, but today I was playing around with it in Pages so I could practice layout stuff, and I figured I’d share what I have for now 🙂

If I can get it to a point where I’m ready to test, I’d love to try running some one-shots on the weekends with some of you. If you’d be interested then let me know 🙂

Anyway that’s all for now, I hope you’re all doing alright <3

(Update: I changed a bunch of paragraph alignment because it was bugging me!)

Palutte

Hey minor update because I just did a new thing! Yesterday someone asked me to make a system to render dithered images with a specific colour palette and I honestly didn’t know if I could! But I kind of had an idea how I’d do it and I couldn’t get it out of my head once I started thinking about it.

Long story short, I figured it out! And I learned a bunch about unity image effects, shaders, colour spaces, and colour maths in the process 😀

You can see a video explanation here, or grab the unity package here alongside a bunch of my other unity systems.

Or you can just look at these test images I made showing Sarah’s Run with different colour palettes:

also here is what Sarah’s Run would look like on Pico-8

OK that’s it for today, hope you’re well because I love you <3 o/

Endless Library

Hey so this is what I made for procjam, but you can have it a couple of days early because I super love you <3

Update: OK it’s public now, here’s the itch page.

FYI I still super love you! <3

Procedural role-playing adventure book thing notes

So that is an awkward af title and the reason is if I was to say “fighting fantasy” or “choose your own adventure” I’d be infringing trademarks, and just “interactive fiction” doesn’t really get the point across, I think?

I dunno I’ll come up with better ways to describe this project further on, but for now picture a generator that basically just makes a book in the style of fighting fantasy. Interactive fiction rogue like maybe? I dunno.

Anyway as you can see from the notes above I’m mostly focusing on the mechanical stuff for now, making sure battles and characters work alright, since the actual “if you choose X, turn to 123” stuff is pretty basic.

I’m also working on a demo story in twine (that will probably be this month’s build?) which will test that the games the generator could make are mechanically sound.

I was planning to put this project off until I had finished making a more polished version of Waitress for Zombies (which I want to release as a patron-only game, soon hopefully) and also releasing the iOS version of my dice roller, but I kept getting excited about this idea so I’ve been putting a lot of time into it. (Well this and also learning piano).

anyway, hope you’re well, love you! <3

Spooktober 3rd – I’m very tired!

Point & click! Dialogue system! Fixed perspective camera panning! Shader improvements! Being so tired from this and a bunch of IRL things that I don’t have the energy to write a longer update post!
