S•I•T•C•O•M (4-page RPG) (Updated!)

Like most of my best work, this started as a bad joke on twitter. A while after posting it, I owned myself by actually making it.

It’s a TTRPG where you play out an episode of a cheesy sitcom. It’s meant to be a low-stakes, one-session, silly kind of game with throwaway characters. It should be easy to get into since most of the pages are just generation tables, with all the rules on one page, and some tips for the GM on another.

Like The Chamber, this is absolutely untested rn and I don’t have the time or company to test it myself, so it might not be super balanced. But even if the mechanics are broken it should still be fun if it’s something that appeals to you 🙂

Update: I polished the layout a whole lot, and improved some wording, and made some tweaks to roll table options so they are a bit more fun. Grab V0.002!

Update2: I added character sheets, there’s six to a page 🙂

Sophie’s Dice v1.4 (2-year Anniversary!)

Hey, so it has been two years to the day since I first shared my dice app with you, which I think is cool, and today I have a new version which is a little bit better than the one from 2018.

I go over the main things in the video above, but if you want the highlights without watching a 15 minute video:

  • Drag & drop dice to/from the hotbar to clear/add them
  • Dice spindown is now supported
  • New menus & improved UI (including a WAY better colour selector)
  • 14 new dice shapes
  • 22 new included images
  • More example rolls & dice
  • New roll expression features and functions
  • Lots of fixes!

I still have a lot to do for this release (updating documentation, stores, update posts etc) but those will take forever and I wanted to celebrate this anniversary by giving you the dice now <3

As always, thanks for the support, and I’m wishing you a happier new year too!

Just a note for the mac/linux versions: I have no idea if these work rn. I’ve done everything I can and they *should* be good, but it’s out of my hands today 🙁

What do you want for October’s monthly build?

So my plan for monthly builds is that normally I’ll just share whatever game I happen to be working on that month, but the game I’m working on now is one I’m gonna release to you this month anyway.

So  I’ve been thinking about what I could give you this month and I figured you could pick 🙂

Option 1) Halloween Game

You get the game I’m working on now, once it reaches the point where it’s playable start-to-finish. It’ll probably be mostly whitebox environments (perfect blocktober aesthetic :P) and have reeeeeaaaaallllllllly bad first draft writing. The plus sides are you get to see the gameplay a little early and it should be ready pretty soon (I hope) so you shouldn’t have to wait too long.

Option 2) Robin Platform Game

Earlier this year I was working on a 3D platforming game with a little robin. There isn’t much to it (just a level which is more for mechanics/art testing than actual gameplay). This game has largely been shelved but if you’re curious how far I take some things before I realise they aren’t worth pursuing this might be interesting for you.

Option 3) Phone Phantom

Phone Phantom was a game I made for an Indie Buskers jam (like Rose & Time), it’s a first-person game where you possess people by telephoning them, and then going through computers and stuff to find other telephone numbers. It’s playable from start to finish but the writing is bad and all the voice acting is by me (from before I got a bit more confident so it’s also very bad), and also all the art is rubbish. But it is probably the closest thing to a “complete” game by me that nobody has ever played (except the few folk who tipped during the indie buskers jam)

Monthly Video – May 2020 (+latest Dreamsent PDF)

I know I didn’t upload a video last month, I’m sorry about that and as soon as I find a way to make it up to you I will, in the mean time here’s a video of me talking about some stuff I’ve been doing, and also a 50 page PDF of what I have for that TTRPG I’ve been working on 🙂

I love you all, I hope you’re well! <3

Monthly Build 2018/07 – Sarah’s Run

Hey there, this marks a full year of monthly builds! I was originally going to just have another Dead End build since I’ve actually made a decent amount of progress on it since last time buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I started poking at Sarah’s Run again, an updated version is one of the things I get asked for a lot and I figured “might as well”!

For years now the only playable version of this has been a unity webplayer (a thing that no longer exists) version on kongregate, but the project was so old that updating it, fixing shaders, changing obsolete code… it was way too much work for me, especially when I had other projects. BUT thanks to your support I was able to do it without those nasty constant thoughts like “aren’t you going to need to pay rent soon?” pushing me to other projects.

And once I got it updated, I figured I might as well ~really~ update it; The game and levels are still the same, but the UI is super improved, the controls work through Sinput now so they are fully customisable, the game saves your progress so you don’t need to play it all in one go (10 levels can be a bit much for some sessions), and I even changed some of the more annoying sound-effects 🙂

Anyway you can watch the video above to see me talk through the game (and go on a tangent about watching cool people make puzzles), and/or download the win/mac/linux versions below!

have fun! 😀
