Dice!
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »Update: The filesize is way better! Also there are sound effects, better lighting, I’ve included the custom face settings that I wanted – overall it’s a much better and more interesting build!
Hey, happy holidays! Here’s a thing for you!
Video above describes it, it’s not got everything ready that I wanted ready for you, and some of the more unusual dice haven’t had their collision meshes tested for fairness yet, but it is totally usable!
Sorry about the filesizes though, I wanted the dice to look nice (nice dicey dice nice dice nice haha) so the textures are huge… in future versions I’ll probably try something else since I want this to work on mobile too 🙂
You can download the dice thing from itch if you link your patreon account, click this sentence. (I’d attach it to patreon but… these files are biiiiiig).
Anyway that’s it, I hope you like it, I hope you are having a good solstice time, I love you! <3
Digging!
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »I was gonna try limiting my patreon updates to once or twice a week but I’m already gonna throw that out. I’ll update whenever I want to! 😀
So I just got digging working, I think I said in my last post that I expected this to be the last big challenge for updating the map display but it turns out it was only a medium-big challenge, only about a day’s worth of work 🙂
It’s obviously a pretty OP ability whatever the mechanics turn out to be, so it’s unlikely to be a default ability you can use without any special items/spells/whatever but I figure it’s a useful thing for testing so it’ll probably be part of this month’s build when I release it (probably at the end of the month, like last time)
Monthly Build 2020/01 – Phantasmal
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »OK so here is one from a LONG time ago, I had completely forgotten about this project until yesterday when I was digging through old projects looking for something to share, and that is kind of heart-breaking in a way!
I go into more detail in the video (too much detail probably) but this project represented the first time I really tried to make a dream game, the kind of thing I had infinite passion for, and then abandoned because material reality got in the way. It’s kind of frustrating to know that if I had the kind of support I have with this patreon back then – this would have been a finished project by now. But I had to abandon this, and many other “dream game” projects while I was looking for something that could just cover the cost of rent and food.
Something I’ve been thinking about lately is how much the mindset I developed after things like this (make small stuff! stuff that is quick to make and get to market!) has been so ingrained into me at this point that I haven’t realised that after all this time with your support, I could have been working on one of my DREAM projects! Hell it’s been almost three years here now, maybe four? An amazing awesome project I love could have been finished by now!
Anyway that’s why this is the monthly build right now, a reminder of the ambition I used to have, that I want to have again. Because the next thing I am making is going to be awesome and magnificent and ambitious and magical and I’m not gonna be afraid to make it anymore! And the reason why is because you have been supporting me through even the most absurd dicey nonsense, I’m gonna stop fucking around and make something amazing!
Anyway, here’s a bunch of concept art for this old project, with download links below (they are so tiny patreon doesn’t mind them as attachments! I love old versions of unity!)

I’m finshed with Sophie’s Dice!
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »Yesterday I finished releasing Sophie’s Dice v1.2 (>>> Patron Link <<<) and I feel like I am at the point where I am actually calling it done. I have no plans to work on it again unless stores require busywork or there is a serious bug or something.
So I wanted to take a moment to just say THANK YOU SO MUCH for supporting me whilst I was working on this!
When I started doing Dice things this was specifically a “Videogames” patreon, most of you didn’t sign up to help me out on this ABSURD project, but you stuck with me until I got it out of my system and I am so incredibly grateful to all of you, I want you to know I really appreciate it! Your support has meant so much!
…
So, whilst I was working on this I lost count of the times I said to you all “I just need to get it done, then I’ll get back to making videogames!”
Well it is done, I’m going to get back to making videogames!
Specifically, I’m going to move on to a BIG game project, which I’ll talk about in a post soon – and I am SO EXCITED to get started and share it with you!
Again though, thank you so much for your support, I wouldn’t have been able to make such a silly thing so seriously without your help <3
New Gamebook Character Classes
Posted: August 20, 2021 Filed under: Patreon Leave a comment »Hey so if you want to play Assault on the Frozen Fortress or The Necromancer’s Tower as something other than a Rogue, Warrior, or Mage – here is a .PDF with a bunch more classes!
They haven’t been tested yet but I figured I’d share them with you because I think they are fun 🙂
I’m still working on gamebook stuff (I released a Writing Fantasy update just yesterday!), and planning how I’ll make a gamebook generator (because writing them one-by-one is a whole lot of work!) but if I’m honest… I’m looking to wrap this stuff up sooner rather than later, as I’d like to begin work on a BIG RPG project. But I need a little time to get into the right headspace, hence more gamebook stuff first 🙂
