Click/tap the 'cog' button to access settings from the menu.

Please note; the settings available to you may be different depending on which platform you are running Sophie's Dice on, and some of the "Screen Display" settings are found under "Graphics" on mobile devices.

Graphics

These settings give you control over the appearance of Sophie's Dice:

• UI Scale
Adjusts how large the user interface is. Find a setting that is comfortable for you (easy to press buttons, easy to read, not too intrusive).
• Quality
Overall graphics quality, higher settings will look better, but may result in lower framerates and increased battery usage.
• Shaded Dice Fonts
Toggle whether dice labels are shaded realistically. Disabling this can improve framerate and battery life.
• Render Scale
Adjusts the resolution 3D elements are rendered at. To maximise battery usage, you should lower this as far as you are comfortable with.

Environment

These settings control the dice tray appearance and size, as well as lighting:

• Background
The material of the dice tray, select whichever suits you (I personally favour the Cherry wood material).
• Background Color
The color that the dice tray is tinted.
• Environment Reflections
Adjusts how much influence global illumination has upon the lighting.
• Light Color
Adjust the colour of the main environment light.
• Tray Size
Choose between Auto (the dice tray will be sized based on your display orientation), or Custom (you can specify the dimensions of the dice tray).

View

The setting here determines how you view your dice:

• Top-Down Camera
When enabled, the camera will view dice from directly above and not rotate, otherwise it will try to follow dice at an angle with smooth motion.
• Camera Motion
When "Full", the camera will always move to follow dice, when "Low" it will only move when dice are settled or when holding dice. If you find the camera motion disorienting, set this to "Low".

Screen Display

These settings change how the application itself is displayed:

• Resolution
The pixel resolution of Sophie's Dice.
• Mode
Choose a display mode (Fullscreen, Windowed, Borderless Windowed)
• VSync
When enabled, the app will try to render frames at the same rate your screen refreshes. (note, on some mobile devices, VSync will render at less than the highest displayable framerate).
• Frame Rate
If VScync is disabled, you may specify a target framerate for the application yourself. Higher framerates result in smoother motion, but at the cost of increased battery usage.

Audio Volume

Control how loud different elements of Sophie's Dice are:

• Impacts
The volume of impact sound effects, these play when dice collide with one-another, or the dice tray.
• Sound Effects
The volume of sound effects played by dice when specific faces appear.
• Result Speech
The volume of speech when dice results are read aloud by the app.

Dice

These settings control the behaviour of dice:

• Group after rolls
If enabled, all dice will group together after they have settled.
• Rotate to Read
If enabled, when dice settle they will be rotated so their up-most face label will match the camera's view.
• Spawn Dice on startup
Disable this to prevent demonstration dice appearing when you open the app, this can improve loading time a little bit.
• Ambiguous Numbers
Changes how ambiguous numbers (eg; they may be a different number if read up-side-down) are marked, either with an underline or a period.
• Dice Character
By default this is "Perfect Fairness", this can be changed to "Realistic Bias" to give dice an incredibly slight random weight bias. The purpose of this option is to make dice behave more realistically, but you cannot load dice this way. When realistically biased dice are rolled, the results display becomes italicised.
• Simulation
Adjusts the quality of physics simulation. When set to "Efficient" the physics will be simplified except when there are dice shapes which require detailed simulation (eg; coins). On PC, the simulation is always detailed.
• Unique Pool Dice
When enabled, dice expressions will try to use different custom or generated dice for each pool. Otherwise, the same kind of dice will be used in each applicable dice pool.

Results

These settings give you control over the results display:

• Speak Results
When enabled, results of dice rolls will be read aloud by the app.
• Speech Speed
Adjusts the speed which results are read aloud
• Result Display
Toggle between having the results display left-aligned, center-aligned, and disabled.
• Coloured Roll Expressions
Toggles whether roll expression pools are coloured to match the dice.
• Show Pool values
When enabled, result of each dice pool in a roll expression is displayed individually beneath the results display
• Show detailed counts
When counting multiple face values within a roll expression's dice pool, this can display the individual sums of each count.
• String Stacking
Disabling this will cause all repeat string results from a roll to appear in order (the order that their dice were rolled, not the order they settled). When enabled, multiple strings are counted together and displayed beside their count.
• Separate Spindowns
When enabled, dice which have been spun down will have their 'result' listed seperately from the main roll total. This setting has no effect on result displays for roll expressions with dice that have been spun down.

Control

These settings relate to how you interact with the application:

• Throw force multiplier
Use to adjust how strongly dice are thrown.
• Click/Touch Effects
Toggle whether the tap/click effect is displayed.
• Device Shake Rolls
Toggle whether device shakes will reroll all dice.
• Double Clicks/Taps
Sets the behavour when double clicking/tapping a die.
• Configure Inputs
Adjusts input device bindings (mouse, keyboard, etc).

Expression Testing

These settings determine how many and how often rolls are made when testing a roll expression:

• Samples per Frame
How many samples (rolls) are made and recorded before waiting for the next frame. If expressions are causing significant slowdown you may want to reduce this, if there is no slowdown you may want to increase it so that sampling happens faster.
• Target Samples
The maximum amount of samples (rolls) that will be performed when testing, after which sampling stops. If you want sampling to continue indefinitely, set this to '0'.

Files & Editing

These settings change how dice are edited and images imported:

• System Fonts
Enable this to list all available system fonts when editing dice. This can give you more customisation options, but takes a little longer to open the app and dice which use system fonts will appear differently when loaded on other systems if the fonts are not present.
This setting does not appear on iOS
• Image Import Max Size
Sets the maximum pixel width/height of images which are imported using the image select menu, images larger than this will be scaled down. A larger maximum size will allow more detailed images, but they may take up more of your device storage.
This setting does not appear on PC platforms, where imported images are copied directly to the Custom Dice folder
